On March 1, 2023, the Fondation de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (FIUSMM) appointed our colleague Catherine Newman as Chair of its Board of Directors.

David Chandonnet, Regional Director, Real Estate Investments & Asset Management, is one of the dedicated members of La Cellule. This group of 13 professionals affiliated with the Fondation du CHU de Québec (philanthropic organization focused on hospital care) aims to support isolated, high-impact causes with a view to humanizing care.

On October 2, fourteen coworkers joined the iA Financial Group team to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure, both in Quebec City and in Montreal.

Julie Martel, Vice-President, Corporate Development has been involved with the organizing committee for the CIBC Run for the Cure for four years. This year, with the run becoming an in-person event once again, Julie is going a step further and forming an iA Financial Group team.

To mark the 40th anniversary of Leucan in 2018, 40 women and men, including Denis Ricard, are committing to donating $40,000 or more each to Leucan, and carrying its mission further.

Education is very important to us, which is why we’re happy to support the Le Diplôme avant la Médaille (DAM) program (The Diploma before the Medal). DAM is an organization that uses sports as a way to encourage high school students who are at risk of dropping out to persevere and stay in school.

Mon sommet pour toi (My Summit for You) is a fundraising mountain climb on September 24 and 25 to raise money for mental health. In this fun event, teams of two to six people choose from three challenges and two mountains, Bromont or Shefford, it’s that simple!

On June 11, at Windsor Station in Montreal, Executive Vice-President and Chief Transformation Officer was one of the patrons of honour of the FitSpirit father/daughter ball.

We are very pleased to be supporting both the environment and education thanks to a partnership with Water First Education and Training Inc. Over a three-year period, we will contribute $90,000 specifically to its Indigenous Schools Water Program.

We are very pleased to be supporting Indigenous post-secondary students in Canada through student bursaries organized by the Indigenous charity Indspire. Over a five-year period, we will contribute one million dollars to fund the iA Financial Group Indigenous Bursaries.

We are very proud to provide financial support to the Fondation Émergence, a non-profit organization which fights against homophobia and transphobia.

Our donation of $150,000 over 3 years will specifically go to support the ProAlly program, which helps workplaces to be more inclusive for LGBTQ+ people, supporting organizations with a range of tools and training.

On April 27, 2022, Michael Ecker, Investment Advisor at iA Securities, presented a cheque for $3,000 to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) in Hamilton, Ontario, on behalf of iA Financial Group.

This organization helps women fighting cancer to regain their identity and feel like themselves again, with the help of cosmetic advice, wigs or breast prostheses designed for them.

As you may recall, Ken Godfray, Regional VP, Sales (British Columbia), is very involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). In 2020, he set up a friendly competition for insurance companies: The Insurance Cup presented by iA Financial Group. This challenge among competitors has been a veritable success since then.

Renée Laflamme is honorary chair of the Cancerto Québec benefit, a show performed the Septième Art (Seventh Art) orchestra (OSA), which is intended to raise money for the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

Chris Flood, Vice President, Sales at iA Segregated Funds recently met with staff at the Saint. John Regional Hospital Foundation. He gave a $10,000 donation to the Foundation’s Stay Strong Program.

iA Client Relationship Manager, Samantha Gallant, from Prince Edward Island, has been the lead organizer for Harness the Hope PEI since 2019.

Our Bedford, Nova Scotia, colleague Jennifer O’Neil joined Shelter Movers just before the beginning of the pandemic. Shelter Movers consists of volunteers who facilitate free moving services for those fleeing domestic abuse.

Our co-worker, Sylvie Deshaies, Senior Advisor, Administration and Group Implementation, Group Savings and Retirement, in Quebec City, will participate once again in the Grand défoulement walk for cancer to raise money for the Quebec Cancer Foundation (QCF). This year, the walk will take place on September 12, at the Sainte-Foy outdoor recreational area.

For Dominic Thériault, Rimouski Branch Manager, children and family are very important. That is why he was chosen to be honorary chair of the 2021 edition of the crab at home supper, one of the Fondation du Centre de jeunesse du Bas-Saint-Laurent’s (Bas-Saint-Laurent youth centre foundation) key fundraising events, which took place on May 8.

On March 9, United Way-Centraide Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches announced the results of their recent fundraising campaign: tens of thousands of donors and more than 500 local businesses helped them raise a record $15,941,372. Of these businesses, iA Financial Group led the largest workplace campaign of the 2020 United Way fundraising campaign raising a total of $1,282,397.

At iA, mental health is a cause that is especially close to our hearts. Recently, Pierre Miron, Executive Vice-President, Information Technologies, agreed to become a patron of honour for the FitSpirit campaign. FitSpirit is a Quebec-based not-for-profit whose mission is to get teenage girls to be active.

On September 12, on Côte-de-Beaupré, near Quebec City, one of our iA teams took the Ride to Conquer Cancer. This team raised over $27,000 for research and patient care at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital and the CHU de Québec (Quebec City university medical centre).

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, Bénévoles d’Expertise, a non-profit organization that provides management and governance expertise to other non-profit organizations, for which some of our employees volunteer, has been busy. The support service, for example, has been adapted to be even faster.
